For Parents

Our Values

We’re committed to instilling independence, responsibility, and a uniquely personal passion for Torah in our students. In this way, we aim to prepare them to thrive in a college environment and to one day become upstanding members and even leaders of their communities.

Our staff brings a wealth of knowledge and worldly experience to the table, including advanced degrees in Talmud, history, Tanach, and philosophy. This enables us to both challenge our students intellectually and support them personally as they contemplate their next steps towards college, career, and family.

Safety and security

We’re located on a fully secure campus with a 24/7 guard service. We also have an ambulance permanently stationed on campus.

Additionally, we work with a social worker who meets with students every other week in order to ensure that they’re coping well with the cultural adjustment, their studies, and whatever else they have going on.

If you need to reach us during the year, we provide parents with our WhatsApp information and respond promptly to any questions.

FAQ’s For Parents

Here are some common questions parents of potential students ask about Yeshivat Eretz HaTzvi.

What happens on Shabbatot and Chagim? What happens when it is an “out” Shabbat?

Our dormitory is open throughout the yeshiva year. On the average of once every three weeks, the Yeshiva runs a full Shabbat program on campus.

Students are in the Yeshiva for the following Yamim Tovim: Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, Simchat Torah, and Shavuot.

Students may spend Shabbat with family or friends on an “out” Shabbat. For those students interested, the Yeshiva helps arrange for hospitality in the Rebbeim’s homes or in communities throughout Israel. The Yeshiva helps organize neighborhood hospitality for students who choose to remain on campus for an “out” Shabbat.

How many meals do the students receive each day? (And honestly, how is the food?)

Three balanced meals are served every day and on in-Shabbatot. Our caterer is known as the best in the business.

In addition, each room is equipped with a kitchenette with a bar-refrigerator. Students can purchase sandwich makers or electric appliances if they want to supplement our catering services.

A number of restaurants are located within walking distance and many offer delivery for when students want to treat themselves to a special meal.

Do you have a laundry service?

Coin-operated laundry machines are located on campus.

If students prefer to send clothing out to a service, laundry shops are available in the surrounding area for pick up and delivery.

What factors are important when choosing a yeshiva?

There are significant differences between yeshivot that could have a huge impact on your year.

    1. Size: Do you prefer the big names and features of a bigger program or the closer relationships of a smaller one?
    2. Faculty: Who are they and what are their interactions with the students like?
    3. Education: Do they focus only on gemara? Are college credits available?
    4. Israeli or Anglo: Are you looking for a cross-cultural experience or a supportive environment for international students?
    5. The amenities: What kind of food, sports facilities, and other resources are available?
    6. Hashkafa: What are their attitudes towards secular colleges, dating, politics, racism, sexual preference, the military, and sherut leumi?
    7. Rules: How strict is the yeshiva?
Do you provide internet for your students? Are students allowed to bring laptops, tablets, etc...?

Internet access is available throughout the campus and in the dormitory.

Yeshivat Eretz HaTzvi is located on the Jerusalem College of Technology campus. JCT is a fully accredited high-tech college with wifi available and cutting edge technology on campus.
